History

CANEUS is a network of highly dedicated individuals and organization who believe in that their collective efforts are best used working towards the advancement of end-user driven emerging MNT based concepts for the aerospace, defense and other applications.

CANEUS grew out of a vision to create a society of aerospace end-users, MNT researchers and developers, policy-makers and funding organizations spanning three distinct regions of the globe. Beginning in 1999, with only a few colleagues from Canada, the USA, Europe, and Asia, we’ve matured into an organization which provides a foundation for the development of the advanced capabilities of the future. Since then, we’ve seen this idea become more tangible, CANEUS continues to grow, and we are excited to watch, with increasing participation from colleagues around the world, our goals become grandeur. However, we are unlike other organizations. We are committed to making things happen and so CANEUS puts its money where its mouth is, and personally lays the groundwork, which facilitates not only current projects, but also those of the future. As we move ahead, it is important that we maintain this momentum in order to allow CANEUS to flourish in the future, and realize a new collection of dreams. The unselfish dedication to our cause is the reason why CANEUS does not consider its conferences and workshops moneymaking events. Rather, they are the vehicles and honest attempts to facilitate identification of collaborative projects to meet the end-user needs, through the concepts we help develop and fund and the pilot projects we help put into motion.

The CANEUS 2002 workshop was a significant first step towards the creation of an international CANEUS network. Hand-in-hand with the creation of the CANEUS network, a second major goal has been the development of a coordinated strategy for international collaborative projects to meet the member needs worldwide. CANEUS 2002 was a bold step to demonstrate the CANEUS mission, vision and goals, undertaken with the dedication and contribution of over 289+ colleagues, and while we are humbled by its success, the true reward is the seed, which we have planted. CANEUS- an organization which is not backed by government or commercial funding but from the truly dedicated efforts of individuals from three CANEUS regions Americas, Europe, Asia and recently from the Africa /Middle East, who want nothing more than to see the success of international aerospace collaboration for collective safety, security, and prosperity.
