As an oceanographer by training, he involved in many international research projects on climate change and their impacts on regional marine and riverine systems in Southeast Asia. He has been members of technical committee and working groups of IPCC, IOC-UNESCO, ICSU, START, ESCAP, ASEAN and MRC concerning regional climate, oceanography and satellite applications. Since becoming Executive Director of GISTDA he has actively promoted uses of satellite technology and earth observation information in managements of disasters, agriculture, forest, urban and coastal systems at national and regional levels. Dr. Snidvongs current interests also expand to cover using satellite and geo-informatics to guide public policies and social governances.
