The focused objectives of the unique SSTDM 2014
International Workshop are to:
- Foster collaboration between India, US and other
countries in the Areas of Small Satellites and
Sensor Technology for Disaster
Monitoring/Management,
- Provide participants and potential stakeholders
with an interactive, in-depth assessment of current
technology development requirements related to
sensors and small satellite technologies with an
ultimate aim of serving the climate and disaster
management needs.
- Facilitate creation of a technology-platform and
a tangible working-model that can provide long-term
sustenance to the collaborations by allowing the
like-minded partners from India, US and other
countries to participate at a commensurate level in
integrating and testing advanced small spacecraft
sensors/instruments for management of natural and
man-made disasters such as dangerous sea conditions,
forest fires, flooding, earth quakes, environmental
pollution hazards, etc.
- Identify technology gaps and also prioritize
them with reference to the near-term and long-term
needs for the important disaster scenarios.
- Articulate and outline the joint-development
proposals related to sensors and sensors and small
satellites with active participation and
contributions of stakeholders from India and
international community with compliance to the
existing frameworks.
The vision of the SSTDM
2014 International Workshop is to create an
inter-disciplinary platform to articulate the system
engineering approach and shape international
collaborative opportunities in fundamental and applied
research specifically directed to develop spacecraft
payloads and sensors for upcoming small and large
disaster management spacecraft missions. |
