Competitive Advantage
In addition to the proprietary core multifunctional spacecraft technology, CANEUS NPS will work with the excellent supplier base and technologies available within Canada’s aerospace sector. This is a Cdn $22 billion industry employing over 80,000 highly qualified engineers, scientists and technicians. Aerospace is Canada's fourth-largest industry in terms of R&D investment. Besides corporate-run R&D centers, there are several public and public-private research centers in Canada. Canada’s aerospace industry constitutes a self-contained supply web that provides manufacturing and systems integration services for a complete range of processes and systems ranging from airframes, engines and avionics, through ground to orbit communication systems.
Canada is also a world leader in systems that collect, record and store valuable satellite-based land information, having built more than 70 percent of the world’s civilian multi-satellite earth observation ground stations.
New business opportunities in the fields of agriculture, forestry, resource extraction and marine surveillance are being captured by Canadian EO companies as a result of their ability being able to reduce both the complexity and cost of the technology initially generated from government-supported space research.
The Space Systems segment of the Canadian Aerospace Industry employs over 5,000 people. CANEUS NPS would add new capabilities to this segment by creating a new business element in rapid, low-cost, Nano and Pico Satellite missions.
CANEUS has geographic advantage. Located in Canada, CANEUS NPS stands to benefit from ground stations with longer uplink / downlink times than other locations farther to the South.
