Technical Problem and Solution

Over the past decade, the satellite industry has essentially been in a state of decline with average mission costs surpassing several hundred million dollars. These high costs have resulted in a downward spiral in the number of available space mission opportunities. This lack of space mission opportunities has significantly impacted the space qualification of new components and sub-systems.

CANEUS NPS represents a bold first attempt by the international CANEUS Organization to create “disruptive technology” businesses aimed at infusing Micro-Nano-Technologies (MNT) into aerospace systems.  CANEUS NPS spearheads a solution to the above technical problem by creating a new space paradigm of mass-manufactured, cost-effective satellite missions. The low-cost satellite platforms will enable in-space validation of advanced MNT components and sub-systems. CANEUS NPS is established as a service-oriented business in which takes on end-to-end activities mission design to end of life where the customer provides mission concepts and/or payloads to CANEUS NPS and receives telemetry data from it.

Currently, there are no established players in the Nano and Pico Satellite market. Traditionally, “small” satellites have been in the 50-100 kg range.  Several universities have created student satellites in the 1kg, Cubesat class. However, these are low-budget experimental satellites and are not commercially viable products.
Even though conventional launch opportunities are few and far between, Nano and Pico Satellites can benefit from nearly every launch opportunity as secondary payloads due to their small size & autonomy.
By offering a new and exciting paradigm to make space accessible and affordable, CANEUS-NPS is poised to be the early market leader.

CANEUS NPS aims to drastically change the current dire scenario for satellite technology by making space truly affordable and accessible to a broad range of customers.
