Session S02
Low TRL Devices
Speakers will provide attendees with a summary of exciting developments in new MNT-based electronic devices for aerospace applications, to a proof-of-principle level of maturity. Each speaker will present recent advances in his/her organization within the context of worldwide developments in MNT-based devices. Potential aerospace application areas for the specific MNT-based devices will be discussed and the speakers will speculate on the path and timeframe for future system-level development.

Chaired by :

Jean-Louis Cazaux, Alcatel Alenia Space and Sylvain Charbonneau, NRC (tbc)

Lead Speaker :

Robert Plana, CNRS

Speakers :

David Janes, Purdue
“Nanoelectronics and Nanosensors for Space Applications”
Tom Pike, Imperial College, UK
“A Novel MEMS lateral Capacitive array transducer for high precision accelerometer/seismometer applications”
Koubun Saitoh, ISAS/JAXA

Pilot Project Concept topics related to Session S02: Amongst the 7 Pilot Projects that will be discussed during the process workshops, we feel that the content of topics P2, P3, and P7 would perhaps enhance the material presented at this session:

•  MNT Based Harsh Environment Sensors

•  Nano/Pico-Satellites for Civilian and Defense Applications

•  MNT-based Sensors for Astronaut Health Monitoring and Environmental Control
