P & L Projections

While this is certainly a topic for discussion and speculation during the Project Workshop session, such speculations are very premature giving the early stage nature of Harsh Environment Sensor Technology.

Therefore, guidelines will be created based on past experience with relevant industrial models such as the collaborations described above. In this particular case of harsh environment sensors, a preliminary cost estimate can be made assuming a two-phase development schedule.

Phase 1

The cost of the technology transfer to achieve the 1-2 micrometer feature size is the following:
ITE:
Total equipment cost:                                                  685 000€*
Total consumable materials :                                       73 000€
Total personnel & overhead cost:                              290 000€

* if necessary a Rapid Thermal Annealing (RTA) reactor should be purchased for between 500-800,000€

UCL:
The cost of the technology transfer to achieve the 1-2 micrometer feature size is the following:

Phase 1: UCL consultancy on process transfer and optimization towards users’ specifications (i.e. part-time experienced process engineer, travel costs to ITE, consumables and softwares):  approx. 70,000

Phase 2: The study and realization of a preliminary version of the prototype (MEMS + CMOS circuit) in UCL according to defined specifications will require two engineers (PhD) and one technician (feasibility study, circuit design, MEMS fabrication, characterization),  processing costs (2 runs), equipment / software use… : approx. 300,000

Total budget Phase 1 & Phase 2 ( in Euros) : 1,345,000 + 8%  Management Overhead
